The Plea: Renew my mind!
Our students act the way they do because of the way they think. The only way the will ever change the drama of their live is by changing their script. – Andy Stanley
Obviously God can speak. Can you hear Him? When it comes to hearing from God, some environments are better than others. Jesus knew this! That is why he was always going off to the mountains, the wilderness and also the gardens. Oh to be intimate with the Heavenly Father! But how can we be close to the heart of God, if our thoughts are elsewhere? I am so thankful the Psalmist’ encouraging excerpt:
Train me, God to walk straight;
Then I’ll follow your true path.
Put me together, one heart and mind;
Then, undivided, I’ll worship in joyful fear. Psalm 86:11 (MSG)
Unity is what David was all about. Granted he was a man after God’s own heart; a man whose heart thumped to God’s. Chained to God in one heart and mind, is how we can be intimate with Jesus.
“I am always busy with homework! Trigonometry is far too difficult to do, while trying to memorize English terms. Where do you see time for God in my schedule?”
“With running 2 miles after track practice, then coming home to a prodigious pile of chores, who has time for this unity?”
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness…. Matthew 6:33 brings a kick to the face for many of our lives. When you wake up, what is the first thing you do? As for me, some days it isn’t digging straight into the Word. It’s sometimes waking up and taking a shower. Maybe it’s eating food. Oh the joy of replacing whatever hinders us from reading God’s word, to studying His word and breathing it first thing.
Maybe you make for this certain appointment, but when God shows up you can’t seem to hear Him. “I feel so guilty for showing up at that party last night.” Clutter, and more clutter ringing in your mind. Remember the “one heart and mind” quote? 2 Corinthians 10:5 says to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ. Renew your mind friend! (Refer to the scripture reading)

Thought of the Day: Time alone with God must become our priority if we are serious about pursuing intimacy with Him. |
